The
Indian rupee on Tuesday weakened against the US dollar ahead of the key
domestic as well as global events due later this week.
The rupee
opened at 63.69 a dollar. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 63.69 a
dollar, down 0.14% from its Monday’s close of 63.59.
Domestically, all eyes are on the last budget
before 2019 general elections that will be presented on 1 February. The
government on Monday indicated that a “pause” in fiscal consolidation cannot be
ruled out in fiscal year 2018.
