
Benchmark indices opened higher on Monday, tracking firm global cues. US stocks surged on Friday after strong jobs data. That coupled with lower-than-expected wage growth eased inflation concerns a bit, raising hopes that the US Fed may not go in for aggressive rate hikes.
At 9.23 am, the BSE Sensex was trading at
33,582.99, up 275.85 points, or 0.83 per cent. The NSE barometer Nifty50 added
85.05 points, or 083 per cent, to 10,311.90.
Among losers, SBI fell 1.09 per cent to Rs
250.40. Power Grid, Asian Paints, ONGCBSE 0.61 % and Hindustan Unilever
declined up to 0.69 per cent.
